Tai Chi from the Yang Family is the most popular form in the world today. The Yang short form will be taught in a modified way to make it easier to learn. It will taught in a "12 O'clock" direction so you can see the instructor at all times. It will also be taught in a "Temple" format. This one-step-forward-and-one-step-back format takes up little room and makes easier to do at home or on the road in a hotel room. Over time, the form progresses toward the classical style. The movements are slow and flowing with no impact. Another term for Tai Chi is moving meditation. Breathing techniques for health will also be taught.
This Eastern Art has been shown to be excellent for maintaining health and acting as preventive medicine. There are many references on the benefits of Tai Chi. The goals for this class are improvements in balance, reduction in the likelihood of falling, increased strength, flexibility, and range of motion, lower blood pressure, reductions in stress levels, better sleep, etc.
